Topographical maps for the area are: Tuolumne, Twain Hart, Duckwall Mtn, Hull Creek, Cherry Lake North & Cherry Lake South.

Directions to some popular locations in the woods.

 

From Tuolumne City to the North Fork Tuolumne River

From Mi-Wok Ranger Station, travel west on Highway 108 for 2.9 miles to Tuolumne Road. Turn left and drive 6.7 miles to Cottonwood Road (Forest Service Road 1N04, also designated primary Forest Route 14). Turn left and travel 0.2 mile to the trailhead and parking area on the left at Buchanan and Miramonte roads.

Hull Creek to the Clavey River

From Mi Wok Ranger Station, drive east on Highway 108 for 4.7 miles to Long Barn Road--the second Long Barn exit. Turn right and drive 0.1 mile to Merrill Springs Road; turn left. This road becomes Forest Road 3N01 (primary forest route 31). Continue on Forest Route 31 for about 6.3 miles; turn right onto 3N07 and drive 2.7 miles to Forest Road 3N86. Turn left onto 3N86 and continue 1.5 miles to where 3N86 intersects with Forest Road 2N03. You will be on the former railroad grade soon after crossing Hull Creek. A detailed guide for this trip can be picked up at the trailhead. There are signs to guide to the trailhead.

Bourland Trestle

From Mi-Wok Ranger Station, drive east on Highway 108 for 4.7 miles to Long Barn Road (2nd Long Barn exit). Turn right and drive 0.1 mile to Merrill Springs Road (Forest Service Road 3N01 and primary Forest Route 31). Turn left and drive 17.9 miles to Forest Service Road 2N14. Turn right and drive about 2 miles to Forest Service Road 2N29. From here, you can park and bike the rest of the way, or continue driving. Turn left and travel to the end of the road. The trestle is located at this point, spanning Bourland Creek.
